Intaba Thulile, "peaceful mountain", is a 450 hectare private game farm
nestling on the slopes of the Magaliesburg Mountains. As it is within easy
access to Johannesburg and Pretoria, it is a perfect distance for a ‘getaway’
weekend for those seeking refuge from the rigors of urban stress.
The rolling savannah grassland plain, pristine bush, and the distinctive
suikerbos and kiepersol tress are guarded over by the imposing amber cliffs of
the mountain.
With a variety of buck as well as warthog, jackal, ostriches, and a pair of
gorgeous, graceful giraffe, game viewers will not be disappointed.
The reserve includes 2,5 kilometres of the Magaliesburg Mountain and so there is
plenty of hiking and mountain biking to be enjoyed. The reserve is on the
renowned Breedts Nek Pass, so a perfect location for cyclists. Horse riding, and
a horse and cart game drive can be arranged.
With its abundant birdlife, game, and variety of trees, wild flowers and ferns,
it is a wonderful place to enjoy nature at its most spectacular.
We offer well appointed self catering chalets in a stunning setting. Each of the
6 quaint wooden chalets sleeps 4 people comfortably in two separate bedrooms,
one with a Queen Size bed, and the other with 2 single beds.
The chalets come fully equipped with quality linen, fluffy towels, (bath and
swimming), and all the crockery, cutlery, pots and pans you would need. The
kitchen is fitted with a small stove, microwave and fridge. There is a lovely
bathroom with both bath and shower, to suit all preferences. For those crisp
winter nights, heaters will ensure your comfort. For those long balmy summer
days and nights, the spacious wooden deck is the place to put your feet up and
enjoy the magnificent views of the Magaliesburg mountains. Each chalet has its
own braai area. As this is all about getting away from it all, there are no TV’s
in the chalets. Children are very welcome.
A sparkling swimming pool ensures you can cool off after a nice walk or hike, as
well as providing a relaxing place to while away the day sunbathing on a
lounger.
For groups or special celebrations, there is a lapa with a huge braai pit to sit
around and enjoy the company of friends and the sounds of the bush at night.
Please bear in mind though that the nearest town of Magaliesburg is 20
kilometres away, so it would be wise to bring all of your supplies along with
you. There is, however, a little trading store 4 kilometres away for the basics.
There is plenty to see and do in the town of Magaliesburg and the surrounding
areas. Restaurants, arts and crafts, crystals, Blaauwbank historic mine, Cradle
of Humankind sites eg: Maropeng; canopy tours, spas, strawberry picking, cheese
farm, golf courses, and of course, hot air ballooning.
A visit to Intaba Thulile will ensure that your spirit will be renewed by the
sounds of the bush and the mountain views.
