Self Catering Cottage/ House/ Bungalow Accommodation
in Karkloof, Midlands & Battlefields,
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Situated in the forested, evergreen foothills of Gilboa Mountains, is the
self-catering, free standing cottage. The cottage consists of three bedrooms,
one with a double bed, and the other two have single beds (bedding provided).
The bathroom has a bath and a shower (towels and toilet paper provided). The
main living area which consists of an open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge
with a cozy fireplace (wood provided) opens out onto the wooden deck with
fabulous views of the Gilboa Mountains. There is no TV, internet, or telephone!
(Great for getting those conversations flowing!)
Attractions:
- Bird-Watching - The Karkloof Conservation centre is just down the
road, very informative with wonderful photographic hides.
- Hiking and Nature Trails
- Umngeni Nature Reserve offers rock climbing, hiking, picnics and game
viewing.
- Karkloof Falls is a great place for picnics and a swim in the river!
- Mountain Biking - There are numerous events held in the area and
the terrain is perfect for this sport.
- Shopping
- Karkloof Farmers' Market, held every saturday morning, lovely things to
buy and eat!
- Close to Midlands Meander Route with wonderful shops and restaurants along
the way.
- Loads of shops and banks to choose from in nearby Howick (19km away).
- History - The Natal Midlands is a historical site hotspot with
it's Anglo-Boer war history and the battlefields! The museum is situated
near the Howick Falls.
- Fun
- The Karkloof Canopy tours is situated 2km from us, something everyone
should try!
- Annual tube race down the Karkloof River.
