The guest house is situated in
Claremont, in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, very close to Cavendish Square and the Vineyard Hotel and is within five minutes drive of the University of Cape Town. It is within easy walking distance of cinemas, shops and restaurants, but it is situated in a treed setting with tranquil secluded courtyard spaces - an oasis in the city.
Newlands rugby and cricket grounds are close by, as areCamps Bay beaches can be reached in about 20 minutes.
The accommodation comprises three units, all with their own entrances and all self-catering (though breakfast can be provided by arrangement):
Main House - front section - (Can be linked to back section to make a
3-bedroomed unit)
One very spacious bedroom/lounge (sleeping up to four people: two on a double bed, two on a sleeper couch), with bay window, wooden floors, high ceilings and fireplace area with two couches. There is also a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
Main House - back section - (Can be joined to front section to make a
3-bedroomed unit)
Two bedrooms, one very spacious with wooden floors and high ceilings; two bathrooms, one with bath and one with shower; full quarry-tiled kitchen; sunny lounge with beautiful fireplace leading to a lovely courtyard with handpainted wall tiles, decorated doors and braai/barbeque area. The main bedroom contains a double bed, a single bed and a cot. The second bedroom contains two single beds. There are mountain views from the lounge and courtyard.
Annexe Cottage
Separate cottage with lounge (including sleeper couch), good-sized bedroom, en-suite bathroom with shower, and kitchen. Lounge and bedroom both open, via French doors onto a pretty, leafy patio area with braai/barbeque area.
Facilities
The main house has many Victorian features (such as wrought-iron work, fireplaces of marble and elaborately-worked iron, brass beds, and teak shutters, doors and windows), but reflects its African location through indigenous decorative objects and wall hangings. The units are fully-furnished, have selected satellite television channels, are well-equipped, and are serviced at the end of each week's stay. The front and back units can be linked to accommodate larger groups, while the Annexe Cottage is very close by. There is secure parking behind automatic gates for each unit - one bay per unit.
The units are completely self catering, although a "starter pack" of tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc. is provided. No smoking is permitted inside the house or cottage.
