Set snug in amongst the hills of the Suikerbosrand, Klipkraal Guestfarm offers
the perfect sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the nearby city life.
Klipkraal is situated on the farms Rietfontein, Hartebeesfontein and Stryfontein
in the Heidelberg/Vereeniging/Villiers triangle (near the Vaaldam), 100km south
of Johannesburg.
Accommodation:
Klipkraal Guest Farm has a wide range of different forms of accommodation.
Kiepersol Cottage : Kiepersol is a stone house, very private and
secluded. The cottage nestles amongst Kiepersol trees in the hillocks of the
Suikerbosrand. Fire place in living area. Fully contained for self catering.
Double bed in bedroom and three single beds in living room. One bathroom. Bed
linen and towels. Solar power and gas.
Blinkblaar-Wag-'n-Bietjie Guesthouse : Blinkblaar is also very private
and secluded. From here guests have a 360° view on the surrounding Suikerbosrand
hills and waving grass fields. Enjoy beautiful sunsets from the cosy braai area.
Fireplace in living area. Self catering. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. 4-8 persons.
Bed linen and towels. Solar power and gas.
Taaibos Cottage : Taaibos is the latest addition to the Guest Farm. Also
very private and secluded. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. 2-4 persons. Bed linen and
towels. Fire place in living area. Self catering. Solar power and gas. At this
stage Taaibos is only reachable with a 4x4 vehicle or a bakkie.
"Die Post Kantoor" : Die Post Kantoor is part of the hiking trail
basecamp. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. 6-12 persons. Cosy lapa and braai area –
beautiful view over the farm dam. Self catering. Bed linen and towels.
Electricity.
Korhaan : Korhaan is also part of the hiking trail basecamp. 2 bedrooms (4-6
persons), 1 bathroom, kitchen and lapa. Self catering. Bed linen and towels.
Electricity.
Bokmakierie Hut : Bokmakierie is also part of the hiking trail basecamp. Ideal
for 2 people. Beautiful view over the farm dam. Bathroom with shower and toilet.
Bed linen and towels. Kitchen outside on the stoep/lapa. Electricity.
"Ouma se Huisie" : Old farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Fire place in
living area. The Afrikaans Movie "Ouma se Slim Kind" was filmed in and around
this farmhouse. "Ouma se Huisie" is also very private and secluded. No
electricity - paraffin lamps, gas geyser, gas stove, gas fridge. 6-10 persons.
Self catering. Bed linen and towels.
"Die Opstal" : This is also an old farmhouse, but Die Opstal is part of the main
farm and is about 400m away from where the owners stay. Guests will see the
cattle, geese, and horses. This will be a real farm experience! 4 bedrooms and 2
bathrooms in the house. Extra bedroom outside and 2 bathrooms. Fire place in
living area. 8-20 persons. Self catering. Bed linen and towels. Electricity.
Klipkraal also has a conference/teambuilding/prayer meeting facility : Die Raadsaal.
Klipkraal also has a new venue : Die Klipskuur (80-120 guests)
Klipkraal Hiking Trail Basecamp : The Habitat basecamp can accommodate 35 hikers
in 6 rooms.
Hikers bring their own bedding and towels.
A spacious lapa with braai facilities and overlooks the
farm dam. Canoes available for rowing on the dam.
Activities :
Game Viewing : More than 17 mammal species to be seen on farm – Black
Wildebeest, Springbok,
Zebra, Blesbuck, Jackal, Duiker, Steenbock, Mountain Reedbuck and more.
Bird Watching : The farm is abundant in birdlife. More than 120 species have
been identified - a
bird checklist is available.
Hiking : Klipkraal Hiking Trail is an accredited trail (HOSA)
There are two main day hiking trails : Panorama - 13km and Kraal -
11km. Shorter versions of these trails are available.
Farm dam : Free use of canoes for rowing on the dam.
Volleyball Court at Habitat Basecamp.
Cycling : Bring mountain bikes to cycle on the mountain bike trails.
No quadbikes, pets or fishing allowed.
No smoking inside the huts.
NO DAY VISITORS.
