Melkbosstrand is the first village on the Cape West Coast, but is only about 35 minutes drive from the centre of Cape Town and the
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. It is a quiet, safe village where children play in the street. The town has a shopping centre where shops such as Pick 'n Pay, Clicks, ABSA Bank, Pep Stores, a beauty salon, health shop, video shop, travel agent and many more can be found. The liquor store is widely known for its excellent selection of fine Cape wines. There is also a service station in the village where fuel can be obtained.
The village also sports a number of restaurants catering to most tastes. Besides the standard fare such as Spur, Wimpy and Perfect Pizza, there is also Orca's and Seafood Tavern which offer seafood delights. Some, such as Orca's, Spur and Seafood tavern have exceptional sea views. The village also has a most beautiful beach.

The village is also within an hours drive from numerous golf courses, such as
Bellville,
Durbanville and lots more. There is a driving range in town, as well as at Atlantic Beach Golf Estate with its championship quality golf course. The course is less than 4km from Leeward Lodge. But a word of warning to golfers - bring lots of balls! Atlantic Beach is a difficult course, with relatively narrow fairways and fast greens. One is not allowed to retrieve balls from the rough, which is prime Strandveld.
Leeward Lodge is situated in a quite cul-de-sac in an indigenous garden where some 40 bird species have been identified. it has 2 totally separate units, one on ground level and one on the upper level. Both are 2 bedroom units and offer identical facilities. Both can accommodate 5 people on a self catering basis with one double bed and three single beds.
Bedding and towels are supplied. Both have fully equipped kitchens with fridge and automatic washing machine. TV with all SABC channels and M-Net are supplied in both units.
Both units have their own wooden deck with braai facilities.
Safe parking is supplied on the premises. Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement.
