LEOPARD'S VIEW GAME LODGE
Bush Lodges (Catered) (GAME NEARBY) Accommodation
in Balule Nature Reserve, Valley of the Olifants,
Limpopo, South Africa
Leopard's View is situated deep in the unspoilt bush of Balule Nature Reserve
within the Greater Kruger National Park, and overlooks a secluded valley with its own
well-established waterhole, yet enjoys easy access to major roads and regional
airports.
The lodge is small and is run by its owners, Neil and Ann, who will do
everything possible to look after you and ensure that your stay is relaxing and
enjoyable. We can accommodate a maximum of six adult guests, and so Leopard's
View represents an exclusive but affordable bush experience. Often we have just
one party in, giving maximum privacy and relaxation.
Set in the bush and indigenous-planted gardens, the heart of the lodge is the
terrace with its thatched viewing deck, sun decks, splash pool, dining area, bar
and braai, viewing tower and drinking pool.
Each of our three thatched, African-style rondavels is slightly different in
layout and style of furnishing but all are adjacent or close to the central deck
and all have two adult beds, en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and overhead
fan, tea and coffee making facilities, mosquito screens and nets. 'Giraffe' and
'Duiker' huts have their own shady verandas with a waterhole view and the beds
here can be arranged as a double or two singles. 'Kudu' hut is about 30 metres
from the deck, in the Lodge gardens, with a small veranda and a lounge area. It
has a double bed but the lounge can accommodate two beds for older children.
Please note that we are not able to accommodate children under the age of twelve
as the environment is not suitable.
Meals are served al fresco in the main deck area. Breakfast is at a time to suit
you and a light snack lunch is available later. We always serve tea and
home-made cakes mid-afternoon. Dinner is a three-course meal served by
candlelight after evening game drive or at whatever time suits. There is a bar
that includes a small but reasonably priced selection of South African wines.
The essence of Leopard's View is to let the animals and birds come to you as you
relax on the decks in the tranquility and minimally fenced proximity of the bush
surroundings. Close to the waterhole in the valley is a game viewing hide: we
can take you down, perhaps with a cool box for drinks and snacks, and fetch you
when you are ready to return. Alternatively you could go on a morning or evening
game drive, or on a game walk in Balule Reserve: this can be arranged in
collaboration with neighbouring lodges and pre-booking is advised.
There are excellent opportunities for day trips: Kruger National Park (nearest gate only
50 minutes), Blyde River Canyon and dam, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre,
Khamai Reptile Park, the Cheetah Research Centre, The Amarula Lapa, Mafunyane
Cultural Village to name but a few. The scenery of the escarpment is easily
accessible.
Check out is 11.00 am and arrival after 12.00 noon but these times are flexible
