leisurely strolls, mountain biking or a refreshing swim. Little Switzerland is
where you need to be.
Our Luxury Executive suites are beautifully appointed and have never-ending
views of the Drakensberg. These suites have glass sliding doors leading onto a
wooden deck with seating area, under floor heating, a bath and walk-in shower (2
of these 6 luxury suites have Jacuzzi baths), a mini-bar fridge and a safe. Our
Executive Honeymoon suites are as beautifully appointed, just slightly smaller -
all 4 rooms with a Jacuzzi bath and a walk-in shower, under floor heating and a
mini-bar fridge, leading out onto a tiled patio.
Our Deluxe rooms have mountain views and have either 2 separate 3/4 beds, a queen
& 3/4 bed or queen bed. Bathrooms are equipped with a bath and walk-in shower.
Our Standard rooms have 2 separate 3/4 beds; two of these Standard Rooms have a
queen & 3/4 bed. Standard Rooms have a garden or pool view. Bathrooms are equipped
with a shower over the bath, with the exception of our 6 family rooms which are
equipped with a bath and walk-in shower. Standard family rooms have 2 separate
3/4 beds and 2 separate single beds.
All rooms & chalets have television with SABC 1/2/3, M-Net, Movie Magic, Super
Sport 1 & 2, Kiddies Channel, Discovery Channel & E-TV as well as 2 Radio
channels, tea & coffee making facilities and are en-suite.
With regards to our self-catering:
A 4-sleeper chalet has one bedroom with 2 separate 3/4 beds, as well as 2
separate single pull out beds (not sleeper couches) in the downstairs lounge.
These chalets sleep maximum 4 guests, regardless of age (2 adults & 2 children
recommended). A 6-sleeper chalets has two bedrooms - the main bedroom has 2x 3/4
beds pushed together, the other bedroom has 2 separate 3/4 beds and 2 separate
single people out beds (not sleeper couches) in the downstairs lounge. These
chalets sleep maximum 6 guests, regardless of age. All self-catering units are
fully equipped with a stove, microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery, bedding etc.
Self-catering units have a private braai area outside on the patio and a fire
place inside the lounge. We provide wood @ R20.00 per bundle.
Should self-catering guests wish to enjoy a meal at our hotel, we serve a full
8-course buffet dinner subject to occupancy @ R170.00 per person (subject to
increase) and our breakfasts are a full English buffet & continental @ R90.00
per person (subject to increase) in our dining room. Lunches are a la Carte.
Check-in time is from 15h00pm onwards and check-out before 11h00am.
There is a "Quick Shop" at our Entrance which stocks cold drinks, sweets, chips,
bread, milk, a selection of vegetables, some meats, tinned foods, tea, coffee,
cereals, cheese, cold meats, a few toiletries etc.
By way of general information, Little Switzerland is situated midway between
Johannesburg and Durban on the national highway. It is a comfortable three to
three and a half hour trip by car, from either city.
Situated at a altitude of 1600m above sea level, it is one of the highest
resorts in South Africa and enjoys unsurpassed views of the Drakensberg
mountains from the main restaurant as well as most hotel rooms and self-catering
chalets.
Little Switzerland is very popular with South Africans as well as a growing
fraternity of foreign tourists, not only for the beautiful views and superb
cuisine, but also for the hikes and walks organised by the resort to the top of
the Amphitheatre (elevation 3050m).
Little Switzerland is unrivalled by any other resort in the Drakensberg.
The resort is also a very convenient base, for those who are interested, from
which to explore the many battlefields from the Zulu as well as the Boer Wars
and is a mere 45 minute drive from the old Garriston town of Ladysmith.
