We provide accommodation on Macaneta Island (Mozambique). Macaneta island is
situated 33km north of Maputo and is a peninsula borderded on the west side by
the Ncomati river and on the east side by the Indian ocean.
To reach Macaneta you need to cross the Ncomati river by ferry and this on its
own is a unforgettable experienced. The journey is short and will cost you 160
meters or about R50 return included. The ferry operates from 7 in the morning
till 7 at night. Exceptions can be made on long weekends and holidays. Once over
the ferry you travel 5km on a sand road and you will reach a trading store where
you take the right fork to LUGAR DO MAR, another 600metres along this road and
you turn left at the boat wreck on the left side. Keep on the right side of the
road and you will reach LUGAR DO MAR right next to Tan-'n-biki.
At LUGAR DO MAR we have 4 chalets currently (2 more reaching completion). Our
chalets are selfcatering and sleeps 6 people (one double bed and 4 single beds).
You only have to take your own towels and food. Your chalets are fully equipped
- pots, pans, utensils, crockery, bedding, stove, freezer. Outside braai area.
On LUGAR DO MAR we have a bar with DStv (for the sports fans), lovely swimming
bath and also a deck come bar on top of the dune. You are 80 metres from the
sea. We also rent out quad bikes.
