Bordering on the Okahlamba world heritage site Misty peaks stone villa is a
recently completed 6-8 sleeper luxury house comprised of 3 en suite bedrooms,
fully equipped gourmet kitchen, large lounge with fireplace,dining room
undercover patio/braai area and a large wooden deck from which to admire the
spectacular view. Furnishings are all up market. Feather duvets and 400 thread
count percale linen ensure a wonderful nights sleep - in fact everything is
designed to make your stay a memorable one. Full DStv, a dishwasher and on site
undercover parking are also provided.
There are a large number of fun filled activities for both adults and children
alike practically right on our doorstep. Within easy walking distance to the
Drakensberg sun resort there is a lake with boats and daily pleasure cruises as
well as trout fishing ,tennis, bowls, squash, horse riding, mashe golf and
swimming pools . A canopy tour in the Grotto indigenous forest is a must for all
ages. Nearby attractions are golf at Champagne sports resort, quad biking,white
water rafting, helicopter flights, shops and restaurants, birds of prey
demonstrations,the Drakensberg boys choir school concerts, and a whole lot more.
The Drakensberg Mountains are one of the finest hiking destinations in South
Africa and possibly Africa. Some hiking trails start right at the villa and no
matter which path you choose you will be amazed at the spectacular scenery that
surrounds you whether you are in the forests dotted with sparkling streams,pools
and waterfalls or on the grassy plains offering panoramic views of the
mountains. Major mountain peaks/features in the Central Drakensberg are ;
Champagne castle,Cathkin peak, Injisuthi and Monks cowl to name but a few. All
are over 3000 metres.There are at least 20 recognized trails and hikes in the
Champagne valley - some easy and others extreme and only for serious hikers.
Misty peaks overlooks the Blue grotto forest in which over 150 species of birds
have been identified, living in trees that seem to have been here forever. There
is also a raptor restaurant on the estate and up to 60 cape vultures as well
as a pair of endangered lammergeiers have been observed feeding on the carcasses
left for them - an awesome spectacle !!.
There is also a variety of wildlife living on the estate. Baboons and monkeys
are regular sights and buck often venture into the gardens at night to feed on
the flowers.
