Our spacious holiday home at
Blythedale Beach is situated 350m from the beach, and 800m from the swimming beach.
Our cottage is fully equipped for self-catering for 12 people:
- Main Bedroom: Queen-size bed, extra single bed for a child; en-suite with bath.
- Second Bedroom: Queen-size bed, en-suite with shower.
- Third, Fourth and Fifth Bedroom: 2 single beds each.
- Bathroom with bath and basin.
- Bathroom with shower, loo and basin.
- Pool table.
- Outside bedroom: 2 single beds (bunk bed) , with shower & loo.
- Spacious open plan kitchen with breakfast nook and scullery.
- Lounge opening out onto pool area.
- Bar area.
- Spacious veranda - well secured.
- Garage with parking for 2 to 4 vehicles.

Drive past the rolling green hills of sugarcane fields to Blythedale.
Blythedale is a quiet village 50 minutes North of Durban, is situated on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, known as the Dolphin Coast and has excellent beaches, with shark-netting at the main beach.
Approx. 3km from the main beach, the southern estuary of the Umvoti river opens into the Indian Ocean. The lagoon (within the Umvoti conservancy) offers prolific bird life. It is one of the few breeding sites of the rare red-winged pranticole.
The beach area closest to the cottage offers excellent fishing, as well as a ski-boat launch site.
Bottle-nosed Dolphins are often seen, and between July and November good whale watching!
Other popular pastimes are quad biking, Jet skiing, Microlighting, scuba diving and walking.
The area is well-known for excellent golf-courses in the vicinity: Within 7kms -
Zimbali 18-holes, and Maidstone Country club 9-holes.
Game viewing at
Hluhluwe game reserve (130km) and visit the greater
St Lucia wetland park - a natural world heritage site (157km)
Horse riding at Maidstone and Ballito.
Blythedale also offers a convenience store, bottle store, and restaurant.
The town of Stanger is close by with a wide variety of shops and Ballito, 20 minutes South offers shopping, restaurants, bars and a variety of entertainment.
Umhlanga Rocks is home to the Sharks Board - the only organization of it's kind in the world.
Here you can attend presentations and even book an early morning boat trip to inspect shark nets!
uShaka Marine World and the Umgeni Bird Park in Durban are also well worth a visit.
