Peace, relaxation and romance? - escape to Montusi Mountain Lodge - situated
in the Malaria free Northern Drakensberg, KwaZulu Natal, half way between
Johannesburg and Durban.
Fourteen exclusive garden suites, decorated in uncluttered, ethnic style
accommodate a maximum of 32 guests making Montusi a romantic haven.
Each suite has one or two bedrooms, all ensuite with underfloor heating, bath
and separate shower; a lounge with limited DStv, gas fireplace and wet bar.
Enjoy panoramic views of the Amphitheatre from your private patio while sipping
real coffee or a selection of teas with fresh milk.
The unique dining room offers imaginative cuisine, with a five course dinner
served by friendly staff. Breakfasts are as scrumptious: a selection of cereals,
yoghurts, homemade preserves, farm-fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cheeses,
croissants and toast.
Montusi also has 5 self-catering cottages. These sleep either 6 people in 3
bedrooms with 3 bathrooms or 4 people in 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. The open
plan living space is fully equipped with a microwave, fridge/freezer, dish
washer, electric stove/oven, cutlery and crockery in the kitchen; limited DStv
and a fireplace in the lounge and a braai on the private patio. Regrettably we
are unable to accommodate self-caterers in the lodge dining room for dinner or
breakfast, but pub lunches are available.
Montusi offers activities including hiking, horse riding, 4x4 and mountain bike
trails (bring your own bicycles and 4x4s), swimming pool, trout fishing, tennis
and relaxation massages on site. Nearby, the nine hole Amphitheatre golf course
offers a challenging round in magnificent surrounds. Scenic drives, cultural
excursions and Zulu handcrafts abound. Guided hiking excursions to the
Amphitheatre and Tugela Gorge are a highlight.
For the adventurous, the All Out Adventures activity centre is nearby: Canopy
Tour, Zip Line, Flying Trapeze, Bungee bounce, Paint ball and Quad biking, or
the Adventure Cafe for spectators. With all Montusi offers there is always the
ever-popular option of doing absolutely nothing!
