We are perfectly situated 600 km from Johannesburg, 800km from Cape Town, 400 km
from Port Elizabeth, 41km from the N1 on the R58 and next to Lake Gariep, the
largest inland water mass in South Africa.
Morning Glory Cottages is part of the old family farm, "Gelykfontein", a well
known race horse stud farm, established in 1935. The owners are the 4th
generation of van der Walts on the farm.
Colts and fillies from this stud participate in races all over the country.
It is a working farm, also known for it's Nguni cattle, Rubicon Merinos,
Indigeous veld goats and Game.
We offer the following:
- Owner run with personal service in a homely atmosphere.

- Weekend packages for up to 20 people.
- Ideal for team building weekends.
- Field walks, bird watching, hunting in season, game drives on the farm
or adjacent Oviston Nature reserve (only by prior arrangement)
- 4 X 4 route with beautiful scenery (prior arrangement)
- Only 9km from the nearest shore of the great Lake Gariep with a
shoreline of 435km.
- There are numerous sporting facilities in it's vicinity such as power
boating, sailing, skiing, bait fishing, etc.
- Hand reared farm animals such as kids, lambs, etc. A special treat for
children at feeding time !
- True Karoo cuisine served in the friendly atmosphere of our cosy dining
room or a braai in the lapa next to the splash pool. (Enjoy "Karoo lamb at
it's best!)
- Or have your own braai. (Braai pack available -prior arrangement)
- We serve a hearty farm breakfast in our dining room or on the patio
under a canopy of shady trees.
- Enjoy peace and tranquility, glorious sunsets, no polution, water, you
can still drink from a tap, stars so clear it feels as though you can touch
them.

Cottage 1 is divided into 3 units (each with own entrance)
Unit A: 2 Double bedrooms, bathroom(bath), kitchen and TV room (sleeps 4 people)
Unit B: 2 Double bedrooms, bathroom(bath), TV, sleeps 4 people
Family room: Large room with bathroomen-suite (shower) , TV (sleeps 5 people)
Cottage 2 is divided into 2 units (each with own entrance)
Lavander: 2 Double bedrooms, bathroom(shower), kitchen and TV room (sleeps 4
people)
Cottonwood: Double bedroom, bathroom (shower & bath) TV, (sleeps 2-3 people)
Ideal for honeymoon couples !
Each unit/bedroom is fully equipped with linen, towels(bring own towels for
pool), roof fans, heaters, electric blankets, coffee
/tea station, microwave, fridge etc.
Regret, no card facilities and limited cell phone reception.
