The self catering unit can accommodate 6 adults and 2 children in a single
house that is set in a secure exclusive private game reserve and eco-estate,
located in the Central Drakensberg area of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, a
designated World Heritage site. The reserve comprises 445 hectares of natural
bush with acacia trees, grasslands and an abundance of birdlife and wildlife - a
photographers dream. It offers a walk and stalk experience that is secure,
private and child friendly, with over 400 animals including Giraffe, Waterbuck,
Impala, Blesbok, Common Reedbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, and Grey Duiker.
The house dates back to the early 1900's and is set in a mature garden
containing many indigenous and exotic plants. There is an abundance of birdlife
in the garden and over 92 species of bird have been identified so far in the
reserve. There are over 20km of roads and paths offering great hiking, jogging
and mountain biking facilities. Loose yourself in the beauty of this magical
place and enjoy the peace and quiet far from city life.
Accommodation comprises of a double en-suite bedroom plus two twin rooms and a
further room for two children that share a communal bathroom. There is a large
dining room and sitting area.An open-plan, self-catering kitchen inspires happy
converstion during the preparation of meals while the spacious lounge, dining
room provide ample room for family gatherings. A lovely pool, set in the lush,
green garden is perfect for sleepy sunbathing or fun family water sports, pool
towels are provided. Lunches and dinner can be provided upon request. There is a
lapa with braai/barbecue facilities.
The renowned Battlefield route passes within 25km (Spionkop) and many of the
sites can be visited as a day trip. There are battlefields from the Zulu,
Voortrekker, Anglo-Zulu, First war of Independence and Anglo-Boer wars.
Champagne valley is 15km away and there are many restaurants in the vicinity.
We are ideally situated as pre-wedding and additional wedding accommodation for
Didima and Cathedral Peak (40km away).
