offering majestic views of the Indian Ocean and the surrounding riverine bush.
The house is a 200sqm bungalow with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, main en suite
and an open plan kitchen, dining, lounge that leads onto a spacious wooden
sea-facing deck. Two bedrooms have direct access to the deck which surrounds the
house on three sides. The main bedroom has a king-size bed, the guest bedroom a

Alternately, you can enjoy one of the many restaurants in the area, the closest
being La Trattoria la Terraza, which shares lagoon frontage with Umkobi and is
visible from the deck.
A large screen TV with DSTV is provided in the lounge area and is visible from
the kitchen and dining room. The adjacent bedroom also has a flat-screen TV to
allow the kids to watch Cartoon Network while you enjoy the lounge and the view

summer months is the huge flocks of Barn Swallows that nest in the reed-bed of
the lagoon. This is truly a breath-taking experience with literally
hundreds-of-thousands of these annual visitors filling the sky. Umkobi also
boasts some other interesting bird-life including the iconic fish-eagle, Knysna
Lourie, Purple Crested Lourie, Trumpeter Horn-Bill and many more.
The surrounding area of Southbroom offers many beach options, depending on your
preference. Southbroom Main Beach and Marina Beach are abuzz with activity and
both offer restaurants and take-away facilities. Granny Beach and Umkobi beach
are quieter with no shops, so be sure to take your cooler box and enjoy a
relaxing day on a typical South African beach.
Activities in Southbroom include golf, tennis, bowls, fishing, nature walks or a
visit to the nearby crocodile farm. While you are there, you may want to visit
Pistols Saloon, an authentic Western style bar complete with honky-tonk piano,
swing doors and the occasional donkey or chicken who wander in.
