Nestled in the historical Byrne Valley lies an oasis of peace and
tranquility. The Oaks Hotel has been welcoming guests for many generations and
is justifiably acknowledged for the quality of its food and the ambiance of its
facilities.
The original 1850 Settlers used the village as a place to gather and attend
Church services. Today the village has a jam-making factory, a Teddy-Bear outlet
and a Tea garden/Farm stall run by one of the descendants of the original
settlers. The near-by town of Richmond has a challenging 9 hole (18 tee) golf
course, an interesting Museum and further a field in Baynesfield is the
Baynesfield Estate Museum.
This child-friendly destination is an easy 75 minute drive from Durban (50 min.
from PMB) and boasts an 18 hole putt-putt course, 2 tennis courts, lawn bowls,
swimming pool and a golf driving range. There is a children's play area with 2
trampolines. We also lay on tractor and donkey rides for the children. The
indoor facilities include a kiddies play-room, a full size snooker table, pool
table and a cosy pub complete with a roaring log fire for those chilly evenings.
The hotel is fully licensed and has an adequate tuck-shop for those forgotten
toiletries as well as sweets/jams/mementos etc
We have guided walks ranging from a gentle village stroll to challenging
mountain hikes. The grounds are perfect for the little ones to safely ride
bicycles in. The surrounding area has many trails for mountain bikes.
The main building houses 3 lounges (each with a T.V) and we offer 4 channels
from the full SABC/DStv bouquets.
All our rooms are individually furnished and en-suite and set in magnificent
gardens. Choose from 32 Standard rooms (6= interleading family) with a bath or
shower,7 Luxury rooms with bath and shower/kettle/fan or one of our 3 executive
suites with bath and shower/ TV/ bar fridge and air-conditioner/heater. Some
rooms have double beds and others have twin beds.
Children under 9 yrs. eat earlier in their own dining room. Nannies are provided
to mind the children during adult meal times. In the evening, nannies are
provided from 07.00PM at a nominal hourly fee.(Up to midnight) Children under
9yrs. are not allowed in the adult dining room during meals.
The Oaks has conference facilities for up to 40 people which are perfect for
that annual company bash, AGM's, product launches or serious lectures..
Considering that our rates vary according to season/specials offered/and room
type, it is best to enquire as regards your needs ...
Our rates include all 3 daily meals, 14% VAT and morning and afternoon tea ...
