OCEAN VIEW UMKOBI
Self Catering Accommodation on the South Coast,
in Southbroom on Umkobi Lagoon.
The house is a three bedroom luxury chalet built on stilts amongst the wild sub-tropical vegetation of Southern KwaZulu-Natal. It is located in a secure access-controlled complex nestling on a hillside overlooking the Umkobi Lagoon and the warm Indian Ocean. Full length sliding class doors open from the open-plan living area and two of the three bedrooms, onto a spacious wooden deck. The deck extends along the front of the house, and the side adjoining the living area.
The chalet has two bathrooms of which one is en-suite. Two of the bedrooms have a double beds and the third has two single beds. Bedding and towels are provided. The three bedrooms and the living area have adjustable-speed ceiling fans. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave oven, stove/oven, toaster, kettle, fridge, fully automatic washing machine and tumble dryer. Adequate utensils (cooking, cutlery, glasses, cups, mugs, plates etc.) are provided for six people. A fully enclosed garage is situated below the house.
DStv satellite television provides a choice of over 50 South African and international television channels.
A "Blue Flag" beach of international standard is within a five-minute drive or easy walking distance along the beach. Guests are welcome to use a small paddle boat to observe the rich bird life in the reeds and trees around the edge of the lagoon, or paddle about 400 metres across the lagoon to the sandy beach. The boat and its paddles is kept in the garage under the house. The lagoon is ideal for sail boarding.
The Impenjati Nature and Marine Reserve is situated a few kilometres to the south at the mouth of the Impenjati River and offers joggers or casual strollers many kilometres of unspoilt pristine beach. For the less energetic, a well maintained pool and communal entertainment area is about 80 metres from the house at the end of a winding path through the banana trees. For the golf enthusiast, the
Southbroom Golf Course is no more than a 5-minute drive away.
The popular holiday resorts of
Margate are about a 10-minute drive to the north of the chalet. Margate offers all the facilities of a fair sized town: banks, a cinema, a variety of good restaurants, fast food outlets and supermarkets. It has curio, gift, stationery and book shops, clothing and hair boutiques, sports equipment shops, and a superb gym of international standard (SuperBodies).
