Situated at the foot of the majestic
Swartberg mountains is Onze Plaasje, a self catering traditional boer cottage which was built in the early nineteenth century, in the idyllic little village of De Rust.
Onze Plaasje is a delightful refuge for those who need to escape from the world to relax.
The cottage was recently renovated and restored to its original looks. It consists of a kitchen with a little Dover wood stove, two bedrooms, a lounge, bathroom, as well as a big stoep on which you can sit, relax and enjoy the tranquil Little Karoo landscape.
Onze Plaasje is on a big plot on the outskirts of De Rust where it is very quiet and peaceful. You'll hear and see the nearby farm animals while you braai.
Guests are welcomed with a sample of 'Witblits' distilled in the area and a small jar of homemade jam from Onze Plaasje's own fruit.
There is no television or telephone and you are most welcome to switch off your cellphone as well and enjoy the bright stars and silence of the Little Karoo.
The cottage offers you:
- Fully equipped kitchen with 2 plate electric stove, microwave oven and fridge.
- Cutlery and crockery sufficient for six people.
- Linen and towels supplied.
- One room with double bed and one with two single beds.
- The unique bathroom is equipped with an old cast iron bath, enamel basin and a chain toilet system.
- There is a second toilet as a "buite toilet" (outside toilet).
- Braai facility and plenty of evergreen trees for sufficient shade.
- Breathtaking view of the Swartberg from the stoep.
How To Get There:
De Rust is 35km from
Beaufort West. Turn right at the third street (Derde Laan) as you enter De Rust from
Oudtshoorn. Third house to your right and you will see the "Onze Plaasje" sign on the farm gate.
