About Us
Our 4-Star fully restored cottage dates from the early 1800's and is in the
middle of our private game reserve. Oude Denneboom is a working farm in the
Voor-Paardeberg wine ward near Paarl, where we grow wine grapes, olives, citrus
and wheat. We are proud of what we can offer and you will experience a very
special tranquil atmosphere in beautiful surroundings. At night you will be able
to see the stars without any light pollution and it will be wonderfully quiet,
except for the sounds of nature.
Our Accommodation
We offer you modern amenities with the charm of reed ceilings, wooden shutters
and an authentic olde world atmosphere. We provide bedding, towels, crockery,
utensils, firewood and even firelighters.
The main bedroom has a double bed and a fully equipped bathroom with bath and a
large shower for two to make your stay truly romantic. The second bedroom has
two single beds and it's own shower and other facilities. There's a fully
equipped kitchen with granite work surfaces, fridge with a freezer compartment,
oven and stove combination, microwave and dishwasher. The living area has a
large traditional fireplace and barbecue (braai) facilities, while there are
also braai facilities outside if you wish to enjoy the outdoors.
You also have your own private swimming pool in front of the cottage where you
can bask in the sun or go for a late night swim during our hot summer nights. We
service the cottage every day except on Sundays.
Surroundings
We have an abundance of animal- and bird life. The larger species include
Bontebok, Eland, Springbok, Wildebeest and Zebra, but there are also lots of
smaller animals such as a colony of wild porcupines, several types of mongoose,
small antelope and silver fox. Our large dam is a bird watcher's paradise with
numerous different bird species, especially waterfowl.
You may also be lucky enough to hear the cry of the fish eagle and see the
beautiful blue crane. So you can virtually sit on the stoep of the cottage or in
the pool and watch the wildlife.
Activities
Possibly the best thing about a cottage in the veld is that you don't have to do
anything. However, there's ample opportunity if you want to do some of the
following:
- Watch game and birds
- Relax at your own private pool
- Hike on the reserve and the farm
- Explore with your mountain bike
- Use our rowboat on the dam
- Take unique photos
- Taste the wines of Oude Denneboom
- Gaze at the stars with your loved ones
- Do the Paarl Wine Route
- Fish for blue kurper and bass
- Explore the historical town of Paarl and its excellent restaurants
