Self Catering House Accommodation
in Heidelberg Area, Garden Route,
Western Cape, South Africa
(6 Bedrooms - Sleeps 12)
Ouma's Villa is a delightful rambling self catering home
Heidelberg, Gateway to the Garden Route.
The original stables (1829) of the Fourie Farm form part of the villa and have been restored as accommodation. The main house, built in 1925, is a gracious monument of gleaming wooden floors and lovingly restored antique furniture.
Comprising 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, each bedroom boasts percale linen, quality bath and beach towels and fan. Sufficient heaters, hot water bottles and a Dover wood stove in the kitchen keep guests warm on chilly evenings.
With an emphasis on quiet country living Ouma's Villa has no TV, but provides old fashioned board games and plenty of reading matter to keep you occupied.
A fully equipped kitchen includes electric and wood burning stoves, large fridge, microwave, etc. making cooking a pleasure.
Two large stoeps provide convivial gathering spots or a private space for meditation and contemplation.
A large fully enclosed garden with a variety of fruit trees and vines surrounds the villa and mews. A large pond is home to the endangered
Clanwilliam Yellow Fish and rare tree frogs. Bird food is supplied for the great variety of birds who visit the garden daily. Large trees provide shade for a hammock or comfy chair. A private outdoor hot water shower and two braai areas complete the picture.
Secure off street parking for four vehicles is supplied.
The villa is rented to only one party at a time, ensuring privacy and a sense of country peace.
Within walking distance of the villa is a well supplied supermarket, several restaurants and coffee shops, the Duivenhoks River and a beautiful, quiet and neat public swimming pool.
Five minutes from the villa is the unhurried, well maintained Heidelberg Golf Course and a little further afield, world class angling in the Breede River, the magnificent beaches at
Witsand and the hiking and bicycle trails of the world renowned
Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve.
Surrounded by wheat fields, Heidelberg is home to the national bird, the Blue Crane and other endemic species.
Crime free Heidelberg is ideally suited as a midway stopover between Cape Town and
Knysna.
Children and well behaved pets are welcome.
