CLUSTER D' HOTE
Fine Dining
in Sutherland, Hantam Karoo & Upper Karoo,
Northern Cape, South Africa
As one of the oldest houses, circa 1880 in Piet Retief Street, this Victorian
dollhouse was renovated in 2007 by the Marais family, to become a prestige
Restaurant in Sutherland, namely Cluster d' Hote Restaurant.
Originally this was one of seven flat roof sandstone houses, used by farmers as
town houses to attend Sunday church services. Saying also goes that during the
Anglo Boer War POW, woman and children from the Tankwa-Karoo area was kept in
this area and this house was used as a hospital for them.
Redolent with antiques and collectibles Cluster d' Hote Restaurant represents
the vision of Johann and Anelia Marais of serving quality rather than quantity
dishes. We hope that by the end of the evening, you as our respected diner will
share this vision.
At 6pm the doors open, serving traditional Karoo cuisine to the very highest of
standards. The cuisine various on a daily basis, depending on the availability
of products here in the Roggeveld, this provides Anelia, the chef, a certain
challenge in ensuring the flair and superb presentation.
Certain dishes have become trademarks at Cluster d' Hote, this being our
signature dish Lamb shank. Also well know favourites are Bobotie, homemade
Chicken pie and Swiss trimmed beef fillet.
The focus however remains on variety, fusion of flavours and combination of
ingredients.
So come and enjoy a gastronomical feast in an astronomical environment, at
Cluster d' Hote in Sutherland.
