Fu.shi is the signature restaurant at The Upper Deck Lifestyle Centre, the
jewel in its crown welcoming guests to a cornucopia of fine cuisine showcased in
true fusion style. fusion is the en vogue cuisine of the millennium and
Executive Chef Vanie Padayachee has taken it a step further by weaving her own
twist into both the Asian classics and the nouveau style that is sought after by
food critics worldwide.
Leading from the terrace, guests dine surrounded by a glass façade on fine
dishes such as Wasabi infused prawns with cashew nut salad, appropriately named
Nuggets of Pleasure; teriyaki glazed beef accompanied by cumin crushed sweet
potato, aubergine ragout and chili jus known as Wild Sky over Shadowed Desert
with original desserts such as chili chocolate fondant with pistachio nut
brittle or Concubine’s whisper.
The feel of Fu.shi is that of 'cocooned comfort' with Asian-inspired cool. The
interior is calm with rich textural layering of tones from faux leather, Belgian
linen and dark wenge flooring.
The focal point of the room is a glass fish tank – the owner's brainchild
echoing his unique flair for detail. Adding further sophistication to the
design, a double tower of stainless steel and glass, developed especially for
Fu.shi, holds 240 bottles of superb wine.
Champagne and Cocktail bar:
Positioned on the extensive terrace, overlooking the hustle and bustle of Main
Road, with the ocean as a canvas and the Outeniqua Mountain range as a backdrop
- the BoMa terrace bar is alfresco dining at its best – a place to share with
close friends, a place to celebrate, unwind and soak in the enigmatic beauty of
the bay.
Realising a need for sophisticated brunches, Vanie created the same with her
normal panache which has now become a Sunday highlight for locals. For light
meals one has a wide choice from the menu prepared by the Executive Chef such as
Tempura prawns with lemongrass vinaigrette and sesame seed salad, Seared Salmon
with Spinach and Ginger Fritter or Wild Rice with Seafood infused Butter and
homemade ice creams such as pomegranate, fig, honeycomb and raspberry,. Finally,
as a grand finale there is a selection of specially chosen champagnes and fine
wines.
This is the place where the jet set and polo players pop in to celebrate life –
this is sophistication at its best!
Chef's Bar (Asian Bistro):
The Chef’s Bar is an intimate informal venue, perfect for a light meal or
cocktail prior to experiencing the local sights of Plettenberg Bay, returning
from the beach or sharing time with friends after work. It has been designed for
small functions, private dining, late night parties and for the night owls that
simply can’t get enough of the vibrant nightlife.
The glowing red glass wall divider demarcates the kitchen from the bar and the
glitter wall on the stairwell connects with Fu.shi the restaurant above.
