Waters' Edge is a comfortable, self catering, holiday house for family and
friends on the waters' edge.
It is centrally situated with an easy walk to the village and to the beach, and
has an uninterrupted view across lagoon and river, to the distant George
mountains.
Ideal for a relaxing or active holiday with water frontage to the Sedgefield
lagoon.
Watch the sun set over the George mountains while sipping sundowners on the
terrace or verandah.
The lounge flows out to a spacious terrace with braai, under a lofty canopy of
milkwoods, with an amazing water view. There is always something to watch. On
the terrace under the milkwood, we have a bird refreshment station with a
hanging bird feeder and a bird bath below which is such a joy to view from the
lounge as the birds fly in and out. Fisherman paddle across to the island for a
day's fishing, and push for prawns when the tide is out. When the mouth is
closed, we can easily launch our canoes below the house, and when the mouth is
open our lagoon is tidal which is very interesting to watch. This is a lovely
time for small children to be able to splash in shallow water and puddles, or
investigate the mud for creepy crawlies and take their little fishing nets to
catch small fish.
As the tide comes in it is fascinating to watch little ripples as waves wash in
to fill the lagoon.
Our large, north facing, sheltered verandah has a view to the hill behind the
village. The hill is a very popular site for hang-gliders and paragliders, and
almost any time of any day, we can sit on the stoep and enjoy these activities
"in flight" up above the hill and coming down to land in the field below the
hill.
There is a very active club for runners and power walkers in Sedgefield, and
they walk past our house and on their way around the lagoon which is pleasant to
watch. On this large sunny verandah, the family spends most of their time, and
can enjoy a game of deck quoits, or have a party and dance on a beautiful
evening.
Sedgefield is in the heart of the garden route between George and Knysna. The
area boasts one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline with a wide range
of leisure options, spectacular scenery and a mild climate to guarantee an
unforgettable holiday experience in South Africa.
Accommodation:
Large open plan room with Lounge, Dining and Kitchen areas, and a walk in
pantry.
The lounge has sliding doors to the terrace on the west and to the verandah on
the north.
This gives a wonderful entertainment flow from the house to the terrace with
braai, and to the verandah.
3 Bedrooms. Two with queen size beds, spacious built in cupboards and dressing
tables.
One with 2 single beds, with 2 upper bunk beds, and built in cupboard.
1 Bathroom with separate toilet in the house, and 1 secluded outdoor shower in
the sun with toilet and handbasin.
This is the most popular spot and is a pleasure to be experienced!
Facilities:
- Kitchen: Stove with warming drawer, fridge, , microwave oven. and
fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc. Walk in Pantry.
- Lounge: TV; DVD; VCR.
- Bedrooms: Linen, towels provided..
Special Features:
Launch your canoe from below the house, or bigger craft from the slipway about
500 further on.
Enjoy the excitement of water sports from the sandbank across the river in deep
water, or swim and soak up the sun. Paddle on to the river mouth where children
can safely enjoy playing when the mouth is closed, or when it is open, it is
great fun swimming up the river as the tide washes in. NOT when the tide is
going out!
The Saturday morning market is an absolute must for' fresh from the farm'
produce, and farm style breakfasts.
