Tugela River Hideaway is a tranquil cottage set on a game farm on the foothills of historic Spionkop Mountain in the Central Drakensberg. It perches over the Tugela River and provides a picturesque view of the berg and surrounding thorveld vegetation.

It sleeps 6 comfortably, with both bedrooms affording lovely views of surrounding farms from upstairs. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has 4 singles, Downstairs is a bathroom with shower and a separate loo. The kitchen, dining room and lounge with fireplace are all open plan, and open onto a sundeck and braai area overlooking the river.

The kitchen has gas oven and deepfreeze and is fully stocked with crockery, pots, cutlery, etc. To enhance the natural bush feeling there is no electricity. Lighting is solar and hot water is provided by donkey boiler.

Precious will wash your dishes and make your beds in the morning. (Just let staff know what time you need them). Dishwashing liquid provided. Bring towels.

As we are on a game farm, there are plenty of walks, mountain bike and 4x4 trails for the serious enthusiast. A canoe is provided for your use as well as tubes for the river. Water skiiers and horse riders make use of Spionkop Dam and Nature Reserve next door to us.

The Hideaway is next door to Tugela River lodge which sleeps 18 and can be booked together in order to accomodate groups of 24.
