Haga-Haga
This delightful seaside village set on the warm shores of the Eastern Cape coast has much to offer. It is located 75kms east of East London - (turning off from the N2). Our road - the 349 - has recently been tarred leaving only 13 kilometres of gravel road.
The beautiful beach and its safe bathing provides for the needs of the sun worshipper - whilst the nearby fishing spots "The Pyramids" "Engine Rock" and "Boiling Pot" - to name but a few - keep the fishermen happy and successful. It is not unusual to find tropical fish in the rock pools. The area is a conchologists treasure chest where the prised find could be the fragile Nautilus.
The natural beauty of
Haga Haga lies in its unspoilt coast line - with rolling hills that slip into the ocean and bushbuck and otter spoor running across a sea washed beach. The Hotel is well positioned to give you the best of everything - the sea - the view - and service. The village boasts an excellent library - definitely worth a visit. The Little Museum has a variety of topical displays, information and exhibits pertaining to our area. Haga Haga is a conservancy directed to protecting its rich marine and coastal flora and fauna.
The local store provides a friendly service. Tennis and mashie golf are also available. For the Nature lovers there are nature walks and hikes where the abundance of birdlife and the beauty of the riverine flora and fauna can be seen. Whales can be sighted from July to November with a magnificent viewing point from the Haga Hill. Our coast forms part of the Strandloper Trail.
Across the beach and around the point is Marshstrand - a quite spot known for its shells - scenic walks and excellent fishing.
Three kilometres on you will come to Black Rock. From the hill above you have a magnificent view of the coast and of the sea crashing onto Black Rock below. A little further you will come to Bead or Treasure beach. Here if you are lucky you might find pieces of blue Ming china or a Carnelian bead. These treasures come from 16th century ships wrecked on the coast centuries ago.
With our moderate climate Haga Haga is also an ideal winter holiday destination.
To find us take the N2 from East London towards Durban. After approximately 35kms you will see the Haga Haga -
Kei Mouth - Morgan Bay turn off to your right - the R349. Follow this road for 10kms until you come to the Haga Haga turn-off on you right. Take this road to Haga Haga - a reasonably good gravel road of 13kms.
We know you will enjoy your time in Haga Haga.
