Self Catering Game Lodge Accommodation in
Hluhluwe, Zuluand, KwaZulu-Natal
Umziki is the Zulu name for the common Reedbuck which occur on this 80ha Natural Heritage Site (no.67) The property has been awarded this prestigious status due to the presence of pristine sand forest habitat and associated endemic plants and wildlife which includes the Zulu Podberry (Dialium schlecterii), and rare Thonga Kierie (Cladestemon kirkii), the tiny Suni antelope - (Neotragus moschatus euleunsis), the vulnerable Thonga red squirrel ( Paraxerus palliates tongensis) not to mention our amazing birding with regular sightings of African Broadbill (Smithornis capensis) and Narina Trogon (Apalodermia narina).
Our accommodation consists of three very comfortable cottages under thatch and a large guesthouse under tile.
The cottages are named:
Flat Crown: a large rondavel that can sleep six people.
Pod Berry: a small rondavel that sleeps two people (one double bed).
Torchwood: A square davel that also sleeps two people (one double bed), each have ceiling fans, well-equipped kitchenettes and bathrooms en suite. The guesthouse is named
Umzimbeet and can sleep eight people in four separate bedrooms; it also has a fully equipped kitchen, and a lounge and dining area with it's own braai facilities.
Please note that the accommodation is self-catering although meals can be arranged at nearby restaurants. The accommodation is fully serviced daily. Please note that there are no TV's in our accommodation.
We have a large swimming pool with a bar/ braai & boma area with toilet/ change room, and two meandering walking trails each of which will take the casual enthusiast around thirty minutes to complete offering interesting and rewarding views of our fauna and flora.
