Villa Vula Vala is located on the peninsula at the Northern tip of the Bilene
Lagoon and the Mozambique coast. We are 400 meters away from Lorenzo's Bar in
the local village of Nhabanga.
Bilene is a very popular area for holiday makers and fisherman. You may launch
your boat on the lagoon at a stone's throw from the house for a water - skiing
stint, a short trip to town or the lagoon mouth. We recommended that you bring
your quad bike along for the younger members of the family.
The thatch roof house would best be described as a grand tent with partial
canvas sides that could be opened during the warm summer months. The house has a
view over the lagoon and is located at the lagoon beach. The house sleeps ten
people for which eight single camper beds are provided on the first floor and a
double bed in the main bedroom on the ground floor. A sheet, covered duvet and
pillow as well as a mosquito net is provided for each bed. This is malaria area
so please take your precautionary medication. Each bed also has a set of
bathroom towels. You will however need your own beach towels. There are two
bathrooms each with a hot shower from a gas geyser, a toilet and basin. The
first bottle of gas is included in the price but from there on you will have to
buy your own gas in town. You will need your own lighting which is best done
with four small gas lamps.
The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary utensils and cooking is done on
three gas burners. You will need your own wood or charcoal to run a campfire in
the evenings. Charcoal can be bought on the route between Macia and Bilene.
There is a freezer available which is run from a generator. There's a houseman
that will do the dishwashing, beds and cleaning from 8h00 to 17h00 daily.
It takes roughly four hours from the border at Komatipoort (Rossano Garcia) to
reach Villa Vula Vala which is 300 km away. The roads are good up to Bilene from
where a 25km dirt road takes you around the top of the lagoon. You will need a
4X4 vehicle to get you over this part of the route. You will also need the 4X4
to get over the dunes of the peninsula to reach the surf over a 2 km route.
Our rates are R120 per person per day for a minimum of four days.
