Voelgesang Farmstay - this picturesque running farm is situated at the foot
of the majestic Swartberg Mountains. In this tranquil and safe unspoiled nature
paradise you will experience old world hospitality. Voelgesang Farmstay was
built in the early nineteenth century, in the idyllic little village of De Rust.
Voelgesang Farmstay is on a running farm, where it is very quiet and peaceful.
The green gardens and beautiful karoo gardens will enrich you heart and soul.
You are most welcome to switch off your cellphone. Enjoy the bright stars and
silence of the Little Karoo.
Voelgesang Farmstay invites you to experience a true Karoo birdwatching
experience. A variety of different bird species are found at Voelgesang Farmstay
and here we represent Southern Africa's birdlife at its best. Amongst them
you'll find the famous Weaver, building its nest, hanging from the branch of a
Thorn Tree. And many more e.g. spekvreter, various dove species, owls and
suikerbekkies.
These fully equipped self catering units offer accommodation for 18 people in
total. The accommodation units are also very aptly named in true Klein Karoo
style - giving each one of them an unique character. One of the reasons why
guest, in returning to the farm, specifically ask for a certain unit.
The hiking trail on the farm meander up the mountainside between huge aloes and
across the many perennial mountain streams. The nature lover will enjoy the rare
bird and game species, age old rock formations and diverse vegetation. Old and
large tortoises are also to be seen. The clear night skies, silence and
peacefulness makes a visit to this extraordinarily beautiful and serene farm
more than a worthwhile experience.
The atmosphere lures the guests at Voelgesang Farmstay into gentle relaxation
after a day exploring the walking and biking trails in the area. Birding,
cycling, wine tasting on the local estates. Voelgesang Farmstay is a delightful
refuge for those who need to escape from the world to relax.
The units were recently renovated and restored to its original looks. There are
eight units, and sleep up to 18 people. There is also a big stoep on which you
can sit, relax and enjoy the tranquil Little Karoo landscape.
