Wee Ben is one of a small select group of properties in
Southbroom with
direct access to a lovely stretch of beaches. Just a 5 minute walk away is a
large tidal pool known as "Granny's Pool", and a further 5 minutes brings you to
the main Southbroom shark-net-protected swimming beach and lagoon, popular with
surfers, paddlers, wind surfers and kite boarders.
For golf enthusiasts the Southbroom Golf Course is also 5 minutes away. Nearby
are the beautiful
Margate golf courses. For keen
cyclists there are a number of good rides in close proximity.
Wee Ben offers a combined dining and living area which is spacious and leads
onto a covered verandah with views of the sea. The rolling front lawn provides
an alternate option to the beach for privacy and protection from wind. There are
4 bedrooms, 3 en-suite with shower, basin and w/c - as well as one extra
bathroom with an antique bath with claw-and-ball feet. One bedroom 'known as
the dormitory' has 4 comfortable single beds. All linen is provided for 10
beds.
The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and dishwasher. It offers a
double eye-level oven, cooking hob and microwave and ample work space. There
is also a large washing machine and tumble drier and adequate fridge and freezer
space.
There is a 32" flat screen television, a satellite dish and a connection in the
main living room. This decoder is the older generation 3-digit decoder and will
not read a smartcard which is used for newer generation 4-digit decoders
including HD decoder. Guests would be required to bring their own smartcard or
hire from a nearby service provider in Margate. There is no hi-fi or radio
system.
Wee Ben also has a resident caretaker who handles general cleaning and can
assist with cooking. She has been employed by the owner for many years and is an
integral part of the cottage.
The property has 3 lock-up garages. Security comprises 3 garden beams linked to
an alarm system which is overseen by an armed response security company.
What to Bring: Groceries, towels (bath and beach), fishing equipment (note:
fishing licence required), charcoal, board/card games and darts.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The maximum number of guests is 10, irrespective of
ages and sleeping arrangements. Booked guests arriving at Wee Ben with more than
10 people will be denied entry to the cottage and 100% of the monies paid will
be forfeited.
