The prize-winning architect Hein Visser restored the 1890's manor house brilliantly. The initial design and dimensions of the building were retained and the original walls, roof beams, doorframes, sash windows and solid kiaat doors revive a bygone era. In addition, the spacious manor house with its typical elements from the late Herbert Baker era gained a few magnificent rooms in the large roof area.

There are six en suite bedrooms in this double-storey boutique hotel. Each of the suites downstairs has a private entrance. All window of the hotel offers an unobstructed view of the blue Boland Mountains. A stay in the Wild Mushroom is a visual delight and sensory experience in an exclusive, private environment.

GROUND FLOOR

Russula: Pink and purple
This spacious suite was the lounge and sunroom in the original manor house. The huge fireplace is now equipped with a little wood stove, which creates a pleasant atmosphere in the cold winter months. An outer door gives direct access to a private patio. The sunny bathroom is equipped with a stand-alone bath and a double shower and washbasins.

Delicious: Green and orange
The double room opens on a private patio under an enormous palm tree. The bathroom is exceptionally spacious and a chandelier above the stand-alone bath adds the finishing touch to the decor. It is further equipped with double washbasins, a large shower and separate toilet facilities.

Golden Oyster: Glistening and yellow
This was originally the main bedroom of the manor house with views in a western and southern direction. The room opens on a private patio. An outer door allows for private access. The bathroom is fully equipped, with a bath and a shower.

FIRST FLOOR

Psilocybe: Magical and blue
The room offers a delightful northern-sun view and faces a cosy courtyard. The spacious bathroom is equipped with double washbasins, a shower, bath and separate toilet facilities.

Kalaharituber: Desert and silver
A view of the beautiful garden and swimming pool with a full panorama of the Stellenbosch Mountains in the background makes this suite very popular. The bathroom has double washbasins, a spacious shower and bath with separate toilet facilities.

Copper Trumpet: Warm and bronze
Wide views from Stellenbosch to the Hottentots-Holland Mountains in Somerset West characterise this spacious room. The bathroom is equipped with double washbasins, a double shower and a bath with separate toilet facilities.

Purpureum: Noble and purple
The library/media centre is also used as a conference facility for up to 12 people, and opens on the Clathrus lounge and a balcony with mountain views.

... ELEGANT ...
The sculptures of the renowned South African landscape artist Strijdom van der Merwe are prominent features in the formal garden. They unite the old and new growth patterns of mushrooms. The colours and textures of mushrooms are reflected in a subtle way in the choice and layout of a wide variety of plants in seasonal displays. The swimming pool terrace and surrounding areas invite guests to discover the elegant and spectacular garden design
