Throw your kids in the car. It's only a short two hour drive on the N1 to the
quaint, small, rural village of McGregor. After crossing the Breede River in
Robertson, the idyllic scenery of blue mountains, grape and fruit farms and
seeing people who actually smile and wave to you from the roadside is like going
back two years in time.
Once in the village, nestled under the Riversonderend mountain range, the
natural beauty of the valley that surrounds you offers hiking and biking trails
in every direction. Design and pottery studios abound. The Vrolijkheid nature
reserve is a gem. Fish or paddle the Breede River or sit on horseback and visit
the Kings River. Unlike Cape Town, the weather at most times of the year is
windless.
This traditional house with contemporary interiors is a short two hour drive
from Cape Town on the N1. Yarramundy (Australian "ABO" language, meaning "place
of water") is situated in a small, rural village on the longest, most beautiful
wine route in the world.
As you cross the McGregor bridge, continue along Voortrekker Road - take the
second street to your right (behind the supermarket) Yarramundy is the second
house on your right as 16 Loop Street, McGregor.
There is a supermarket, bottle store and service station in the village. Quaint
pubs and restaurants are also notorious for their various idiosyncrasies.
