Brown Jug provides visitors to Hermanus with self catering accommodation.
Abel, Louise and Luke, the friendly Labradors Keesha and Tula, and kitties Mikey and Squeek welcome guests to our home – the Brown Jug. Personal attention and guest comfort is our mission, guest satisfaction the goal. The three well-appointed, stylish, self-catering or B&B units with a personal touch and tastefully decorated with attention to detail will ensure a peaceful stay. The units are fully equipped, have private entrances, outdoor barbeque areas and safe under cover parking. The Brown Jug, centrally situated in sought after Eastcliff, a quiet leafy suburb, is a mere two minute stroll to the shops, restaurants and seafront where you can enjoy the famous whale watching from the cliff tops in all its beauty. Hermanus is the “Whale watching capital of South Africa” and is just a 90 minute drive from Cape Town.
Relax, rewind and discover beauty at its best
The Brown Jug will provide the exact location you are looking for. A pristine garden, private units, an 11m sparkling salt water swimming pool, sounds of nature and a good dose of R&R. We invite you to relax on your private patio or on one of the pool loungers and enjoy full or filtered sun while enjoying the tranquillity of the sound of birds. A short stroll will take you to the seafront, the quaint shops and antiquities Hermanus is renowned for, and to the restaurants for a long lazy lunch overlooking the sea, with the distinct possibility of a whale show. Then there’s the cliff paths, the Marine Tidal pool for a fully energized swim and the Fernkloof Nature Trail with the first of the available walks - The Elephant Walk - a mere 600 meters away. There’s also the Saturday Craft Market where friends (and their pets) meet, and the blue flag beaches that are just 5 minutes away by car. Mountain bike trails are in abundance and truly magnificent scenery awaits, with routes up the valley with clearly marked routes catering to various degrees of expertise. Hike into Fernkloof Nature Reserve or explore the Hemel en Aarde Valley just 6 kilometres away and taste the wines of the region. For the more adventurous there are a number of day trips, and using Hermanus as a base many of these can be covered with ease. The 27-hole Hermanus Golf Course is a kilometre away. We will gladly provide assistance with Kayak trips in Walker Bay, Shark dives and Whale cruises.
