Fiddlewood Fields is a beautiful guest house, set in quiet, lush gardens in the city of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Owned and managed by Liz Thomas, the accommodation options are suitable for individuals, couples, friends and families. We are located close to St Andrews College, St Andrews Prep, DSG and are a short drive away from Kingswood College and Rhodes University.

Blue Room

Blue Room is connected to the main house at Fiddlewood Fields, with separate access. This self-catering unit is a comfortable alternative whether for a single night's stay, or a long-term visit to Grahamstown.

Blue Room is configured as either a kingsize bed or two singles with a sleeper couch, full ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette with bar fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. The kitchenette is stocked with tea, coffee, fresh milk, sugar, homemade rusks and cereals, all of which are included. Bottled water and cold drinks are complimentary. There are two large bay windows with views out on to the gardens. Outside there is a table with chairs and a two-seater sofa on the covered verandah.

Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage is a stand-alone cottage tucked away in the corner of Fiddlewood Fields. This self-catering unit is a comfortable alternative whether for a single night's stay, or a long-term visit to Grahamstown.

Rose Cottage is configured as either a king-size bed or two singles with a sleeper couch, full ensuite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette with gas stove, bar fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Outside there is a table with benches available on the open patio. The kitchenette is stocked with tea, coffee, fresh milk, sugar, homemade rusks and cereals, all of which are included. Bottled water and cold drinks are complimentary.

Butterfly Cottage is situated adjacent to Sunbird Cottage in the gardens of Fiddlewood Fields. Butterfly Cottage is a wonderful option whether for a short or long-term stay.

The cottage has a king-size bed downstairs and a loft area upstairs with three single beds. There is a full ensuite bathroom, a sitting area with flat screen TV and a small kitchenette with a fridge and combination microwave/convection oven, toaster and kettle. The kitchenette is stocked with tea, coffee, fresh milk, sugar, homemade rusks and cereals, all of which are included. Bottles water and cold drinks are complimentary.

Outside there is a table with chairs and a two-seater sofa on the covered verandah. Natural light streams into both cottages thanks to their large north-facing windows.

National Arts Festival
Held in June/July over 11 days ,and also known as the Grahamstown Festival, the National Arts Festival is the biggest annual celebration of the arts on the African continent.

Cultural Sites
Visit the National English Literary Museum, known as one of South Africa's literary treasures. Located on the Rhodes University campus, this impressive building has won a '5-star green' construction rating.

Educational Interest
SciFest Africa, South Africa's National Science Festival is held annually in March with an emphasis on promoting science, technology and innovation. Grahamstown is also home to the Albany Museum.
