Thornwood is a luxury private retreat within a Private Game Park of pristine natural bush offering self guided walking trails amongst an abundance of birds and game. The park is situated in the heart of Southern Maputaland and is a neighbour to the famous Phinda Game Reserve and The Isimangaliso /Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, a registered world heritage site. The Hluhluwe - Imfolozi Park, known for its Big 5, is right on your doorstep as well as a wide variety of activities and interesting sites to visit.

Accommodation

Thornwood offers luxury accommodation for up to 8 people in a self-catering, fully serviced, upmarket lodge. A unique blend of luxury timber frame units, fit seamlessly into the surrounding bush. Relax in the spacious lounge, entertainment area, pool, or fire deck without losing the intimacy with nature.

There are 3 bedrooms. Two are in the main lodge with 2 single beds each, however they can be joined together. The 3rd bedroom is detached with a queen bed.

Therefore it can sleep 6 adults and 2 children on strechers.

The 2 full en-suite bedrooms in the main unit have outdoor showers and bathtubs that open out to the African bush.

The cottage unit is close, but detached from the main building which offer privacy and seclusion. This room is made up of a large bedroom, bathroom with an outdoor shower and has its own deck coming out under magnificent indigenous trees.

Guests will have exclusive use of Thornwood as we only allow one party (booking) at a time.

With a four star rating you are assured that all the accommodation is of a very high standard.

The cost of the accommodation also includes a full time housekeeper for the duration of your stay.

In brief, Thornwood consists of a spacious lounge and entertainment area with a decked swimming pool, DSTV, pool table and a study nook.

There is a large well-fitted kitchen with all modern day conveniences. The kitchen opens out onto a large fire pit deck, which is perfect for evening barbeques and fireside chats, canopied by spectacular night skies unique to Africa.

Thornwood is also particularly conducive to just relaxing with its own swimming pool. A pool / snooker table and DSTV with home theatre system are in place for added entertainment.

Kuleni Game Park itself offers self-guided walking trails with an abundance of bird-life and game such as Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Wildebeest and Impala. The park is enclosed by an electrified double game fence, offering security to both wildlife and residents.
