The Ballito Pro, presented by Billabong, is an international surf and lifestyle event hosted in Ballito, the jewel of KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast.
Held for a length of 14 days in June / July, The Ballito Pro is one of the worlds longest running international surfing competitions that holds a 6 Star ASP World Qualifying Series rating. This event is a strategic partnership between World Surf League (WSL) and the KwaDukuza Municipality, together with various public & private sector partners.
The World Surf League’s top ranked performers are joined by the cream of South Africa’s men, women and junior surfers for a festival of high performance action in the waves of Willard Beach in Ballito on the KwaDukuza coast. The event is broadcast live, with multiple cameras capturing the event - two cameras on the beach, a wide-angle lens camera on the tower focusing on the surfing and a roving camera for interviews and happenings on the beach between the live surfing. There are also repeats of the entire days footage played in the evenings for those who missed it during the day.
Alongside the surfing, visitors are spoiled for choice with non-stop activities providing even more entertainment throughout the Ballito festival site. South Africa’s hottest musical acts appealing to all tastes – rock, pop, hip hop, kwaito, electro and dance perform live over the last weekend. Beach and extreme sports, culinary contests as well as quality retail and food stalls will captivate visitors to this coastal holiday highlight.
