Origin/History: The Pinnacle Point Golf Course was designed by renowned golf course architect Peter Matkovich and opened in 2006. Matkovich worked closely with professional golfer Darren Clarke to create a course that balances challenging play with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The design of the course was guided by a desire to integrate the natural terrain into the playing experience, preserving the area's flora and fauna while making the most of its dramatic oceanfront location.
Since its opening, Pinnacle Point has garnered significant praise, winning several awards. It was named one of the Top 10 New Courses in the World by Golf Travel & Leisure Magazine in its first year and has continued to be ranked among South Africa's best golf courses. The course's unique cliffside holes and sweeping ocean views make it a bucket-list destination for golfers from around the world.
Course Details: Pinnacle Point is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course that stretches over 6,500 meters. The layout is characterized by a combination of undulating fairways, coastal winds, and rugged cliffs, making it both scenic and challenging. Many of the holes are perched right on the edge of the cliffs, offering stunning views of the ocean, with some requiring shots over deep ravines. The signature hole is the 7th, a spectacular par 3 where golfers must tee off over a gorge to reach the green on the other side.
The course also features well-maintained greens and fairways, a state-of-the-art driving range, and a pro shop. Additionally, the club offers a full range of facilities, including a luxurious clubhouse, restaurant, and locker rooms. Pinnacle Point is also home to a golf academy, where golfers of all skill levels can improve their game with professional coaching.
