Karenpark

Karenpark is an urban suburb situated to the north-west of central Pretoria and immediately to the north of the Witwatersberg. The suburb sits on the North side of the R513, the main road from Pretoria North to Brits. Karenpark is just to the North of the Wonderpark Shopping Mall, and is ideally placed for those visitors who wish to make use of the many country venues of  the Magaliesberg and the resorts of the Hartbeespoort Dam. Karenpark is also very close to the Akadia Country Club and the S.A.P. Sports grounds.

Pretoria itself was founded in 1855 by Marthinus Pretorius, a leader of the Voortrekkers, who named it after his father Andries Pretorius. During the First Boer War, the city was besieged by Republican forces in December 1880 and March 1881. The peace treaty, which ended the war, was signed in Pretoria on 3rd August 1881 at the Pretoria Convention. Pretoria achieved official city status in 1931.
