This farm has a rich history with regards to the Boer War, as women of the area and their livestock fled from the enemy and took refuge in the overhanging caves, situated on Fairview Estates. Quite a few Bushmen drawings were also found on the sandstone overhangs on this farm.
The 3500 hectares of farmland and mountains are there for hiking or just to discover your own little paradise - like the stream with a succession of whirlpools that continue for more than a kilometer - popularly known as the farm's own Potholes. Guests from all over find it interesting to experience this working farm, especially with the mesmerizing, unique alpacas grazing freely on the farm. Fairview Estates also farm with Bonsmara stud cattle and we also plant maize and beans. As an extra bonus this farm experiences regular snowfalls during the cooler months right up to September.
We recently started breeding appaloosa horses and the stud name is Manchado Appaloosa Stud.
Lesotho's border is only 40 km away and guests frequently visit the interesting Katse Dam as well as Afri-Ski. Other popular activities in the area: Golfing and shopping in Clarens as well as white water river rafting.
