Tweede Tol Picnic & Camping Site - Bain's Kloof Pass, Western cape

Tweede Tol Picnic & Camping Site is a beautiful spot on the Bain's Kloof Pass, in the heart of the Limietberg Nature Reserve, a 102 000 hectare reserve filled with mountains, wildlife and fynbos. Situated at the original tollgate of the beautiful Bainskloof Pass, built between Wellington and Ceres in 1853 by Andrew Geddes Bain and a crew of 1000 convict labourers.

The surrounding nature reserve plays a crucial role in the conservation of unique plant species and offers various hiking trails that lead to breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys.

Tweede Tol is a popular destination for picnicking, camping, hiking, and swimming. Day visitors to the picnic site need only pay the conservation fee and can enjoy the picnic area and the Witte River swimming holes (toilets are available), while overnight guests can make use of well-maintained camping facilities that provide a tranquil setting in the mountains. Limietberg's hiking trails and the campsite are for the exclusive use of the Tweede Tol campers.
