Limietberg Nature Reserve - nr Paarl, Cape Winelands

Limietberg Nature Reserve is a stunning conservation area located in the Du Toitskloof Mountains near Paarl in the Western Cape. Covering around 117,000 hectares, the reserve is part of the UNESCO-designated Cape Floral Region, featuring rugged mountain landscapes, crystal-clear streams, and indigenous fynbos vegetation. It is popular for outdoor activities like hiking, birdwatching, and fishing, with several hiking trails leading to scenic views and natural rock pools.

The reserve is also important for preserving biodiversity and protecting species endemic to the area. Additionally, the presence of historical sites, such as old mountain passes and wagon trails, adds to its appeal.

Access to the region is via the beautiful Bain's Kloof Pass that winds it's way along the steep walled gorge of the Witrivier.
