The Sudwala Caves in Mpumalanga, Sudwala Valley (17.3 km from Alkmaar), are considered the oldest known caves in the world, with a deep system of caverns lying in the Kruger National Park & Lowveld Mpumalanga region. Formed over a period of 3 000 million years, the Sudwala Caves caves capture an era when the Sudwala Caves was a shallow inland sea.
Visit on the last Saturday of the month, and join one of the popular Sudwala Caves Crystal Tours inside the deeper chambers. You will be required to crawl through some sections, so be prepared to get wet. There's also a Sudwala Caves Dinosaur Park, and the kids will love the life-size monsters guarding the cave entrance.
Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit (10.7 km from Alkmaar) was constructed for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup, and can comfortably seat 40,000 people with excellent views from all positions. Situated eight kilometres north of Nelspruit, it's the closest venue to the hugely popular Kruger National Park.
