Beginning your journey through Swaziland from Lavumisa opens the way to a country renowned for its beauty, peaceful environment and fascinating history
Lavumisa is located in the Shiselweni district of southern Swaziland, known as the "low-veld region". Lavumisa is the South African / Swaziland border crossing point between KwaZulu Natal and Swaziland , and although Lavumisa is a relatively small town with a population of just 2000, it's the connection to many popular Swaziland towns, Jozini Dam and Swaziland accommodation.
Just around the corner from Lavumisa, experience superb Jozini Dam accommodation / Pongola Dam accommodation. Accommodation in Jozini Dam big 5 country, where those in search of adventure can tackle the tiger fish - rumoured to be the best freshwater fighting fish in the world. Teeming with wildlife, Swazilands virtually untouched landscape makes Lavumisa and Jozini Dam area the gateway for those in search of adventure.
One kilometre outside Lavumisa there is a left turn to Nhlangano - "the meeting place", where you'll find some Swaziland bed & breakfast accommodation en-route to the famous Ezulwini Valley - the kingdom of Swazilands main tourist area, abundant with a wealth of attractions and a variety of typical Swaziland accommodation. The road to Nhlangano along the border is exceptionally scenic, offering wide open plains and undulating hills. Because of its magnificent vistas, many travellers uses this route and Swaziland accommodation on offer, rather than driving on the South African side of the border.
The road from Lavumisa to the main Swaziland towns of Mbabane, The Ezulwini Valley, Big Bend and Manzini have numerous speed bumps and road traffic officers monitoring very strict speed controls.
Accommodation in Jozini Dam / Pongola Dam area is the best option for wild game related interests.
Swaziland golfers should consider accommodation in Manzini - there is a private golf course called Nkonyeni Golf Lodge with excellent onsite Manzini accommodation. Another option to consider is Mbabane accommodation for easy access to The Royal Swazi Golf Club. Of the two Swaziland golf courses the author recommends Nkonyeni Golf Lodge accommodation for a better golf experience.
