The small picturesque village of Praia do Tofo (Tofo Beach) is set on the Indian Ocean side of the peninsular just ten kilometers to the east of Inhambane. Tofo Beach is one of the more developed resorts in the Inhambane region of Mozambique. The beach is long and broad and the warm water safe to swim in. The nearby reef is a haven for the whale shark and manta rays as well as hundreds of other fish species.
The Tofo Beach area has become a favourite resort for the surfer, though for the more experienced surfer the nearby village of Tofinho is a better bet. Fishing and diving enthusiasts may hire a boat in Tofo
Beach village. Surfers can expect to encounter dolphins sharing the wave breaks. Just up the road the town of Inhambane offers some excellent but basic shopping, and here you can enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many street cafés or restaurants. There is also a market in the town.

Our holiday accommodation in Tofo, Mozambique
Thanks Where to Stay for helping us find such a lekker spot to stay in Tofo,
Mozambique. Me, my wife and kids left Komatipoort for Tofu for my 50th birthday
jol. The roads were pretty messed up and after a 7 hour drive we were grateful
to be in a 4x4.,
When we got to Paradise Dunes, our self catering cottages in Tofo Mozambique, we
met up with some of our mates who also had accommodation in Mozambique. The
first thing we did was down a couple of cold 2M's (that's the local Mozambique
brew), and the rest of the family headed for the beach
We often bought fresh prawns and crab from a Tofo beach local who hangs around
near Paradise Dunes cottages. Paradise Dunes is great Mozambique accommodation
value for money. We also expected things to be very different to the old days
but the Mozambique prawn prices were still pretty reasonable.
Dino's Bar in Tofo became our local pub and we had many a lekker meal with the
family and friends......If you visit Mozambique, pop in to Dino's - we had much
fun.
There's tons to do in Tofo and Tofinho which is close by), things like Scuba
diving, spear fishing, horse riding, surfing - (but not for this ou ballie). and
the girls loved the tourbus trip from the market inTofo to the central market in
Inhambane, They had lunch at a fancy place called the Green Turtle Restaurant in
Inhambane. A trip around the harbour in a "dhow" (local sail boat) finished off
the day before they headed back to Paradise Dunes in Tofo.
On my birthday, we just chilled on Tofo beach and braaid later on and got vrot
in honor of my half century. Of course I had a babelaas the next day, but
nothing the 'hair of the dog' didn't fix!
Our trip to Tofo Mozambique was the best jol ever, well worth the drive - Our
cottages were 'home away from home',
This is not our first visit to Mozambique, we have also stayed in other
Mozambique self catering cottages, Mozambique bed & breakfasts, Mozambique
chalets, a great Mozambique hotel and even backpackers accommodation are on
offer.
Next year we'll be back but will be sure to check Where to Stay for different
Mozambique accommodation.
