Mouille Point

Mouille Point Village, just outside the city centre of Cape Town and between Granger Bay and Three Anchor Bay close to the V&A Waterfront, is the starting point of a seaside promenade that goes all the way around to Sea Point and is very popular with locals and visitors alike. In any weather, this part of Mouille Point is home to walkers, joggers and families out with their prams.

Mouille Point is perhaps best known for its famous lighthouse - officially known as the Green Point lighthouse - which is the oldest operational lighthouse on the South African coast. It is a popular attraction and obtaining directions for local restaurants, of which there are plenty, will usually involve the red and white striped landmark. Mouille Point hugs the Atlantic Ocean and has wonderful views over Robben Island and Table Mountain. Mouille Point is within easy walking distance of local delis, hotels, a golf course and wellness centre.

Mouille Point in Cape Town offers a delightful mix of scenic beauty and recreational activities.

Here are three things you can enjoy in Mouille Point:

  1. Mouille Point Promenade: Take a leisurely stroll or a bike ride along the beautiful promenade that stretches along the coastline. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, with Robben Island and Lion's Head in the distance. The promenade is perfect for a relaxing walk, jog, or bike ride, and it's a great spot for watching the sunset.

  2. Green Point Lighthouse: Visit the historic Green Point Lighthouse, which has been guiding ships safely into Cape Town's harbor since 1824. It's one of the oldest lighthouses in South Africa and is still operational today. You can take a guided tour to learn about its fascinating history and enjoy panoramic views of the coastline from the top.

  3. Sea Point Swimming Pool: Cool off and enjoy a swim in the iconic Sea Point Swimming Pool, located right on the ocean's edge. This public saltwater pool is one of the largest of its kind in the world and offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding coastline. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, especially on hot summer days.

These are just a few highlights of what Mouille Point has to offer. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventures, historical landmarks, or simply a relaxing day by the sea, you'll find plenty to enjoy in this picturesque part of Cape Town.
